Travel Guides - Sweden Golf Vacations

Are you the type of person for whom a vacation must include a visit to the links ?

If so, you’ll be happy to hear that Sweden golf vacations are practical, fun, and well worth the visit to this Scandinavian country that was first settled by the Vikings.

Whether you want to visit Dalarna, Gastrikland, Harjedalen, Narke, or Stockholm, you’ll be able to find some greens to suit your handicap.

In fact, many of the hotels in major cities include golf courses as either part of or in addition to the general accommodations. (Interestingly, even if there isn’t a golf course listed as part of your hotel package, it never hurts to ask – new golf courses are being built every day because the increase in demand has outstripped the number of links available.)

One caveat, though – for non-Swedes to play golf in Sweden, they must become a member in a national or international golf club. The one exception to this rule is on public courses, but they are few and far between in this nation. Thus, to plan for your Sweden golf vacations, you’ll need to either look into becoming a member of an international golfing club or be willing to become a “trainee”. The “trainee” status at any private Sweden golf course will enable you to play without a license or membership, but only if you’re with your trainer. It’s a bit of a trade-off, but might be well-worth it.

Fortunately, although a few hoops must be jumped through to get on a golf course, paying for it won’t be too rough. Most greens fees are quite reasonable, which means your Sweden golf vacations won’t break the bank… unless you buy a round for everyone in the pub after getting a hole in one!
