Travel Guides - Nightlife in Sweden

Be Dazzled by the Swedish Night Scene. Ever hear of ABBA? The Cardigans? Roxette? Yes, those groups and many others came from the Nordic kingdom of Sweden. With heart-thumping beats and catchy lyrics, Swedish music has taken the world by storm. Perhaps part of the reason is that in this large country with a modest population, there seems to be an innate love of all things musical.

With such a devotion to all kinds of tunes, it’s no surprise that the Swedish nightlife tends to circle around dancing and performing arts. >From Stockholm, the largest city and the capital of this Scandinavian paradise, to Gothenburg, a smaller, but no less contemporary, town, you’ll find plenty to do after the dinner hour has passed.

For instance, there are tons of festivals throughout the year in the various regions of Sweden. There, you’ll find the best in classical music, jazz, and rock. Enjoy some “Ol” (beer) while you sway to the sounds of a band or chorus during an outdoor celebration.

Prefer to be indoors? Then you’ll love grooving to the sounds of Swedish pop stars (as well as those from around the globe) in discos. And if you’re in a city with a college or university, you’ll probably have many such places to choose from – the younger adults love to party (a seemingly universal trend!)

Regardless of what you want or need in an evening excursion, the modern, chic land of Sweden is sure to have exactly what you’re looking for. Bring your camera and your sense of adventure!
