Though there are some gratis publications in the States, the Swedish ones tend to be more widely-read and more mainstream.
Free University
Speaking of free, how about an education where you’re actually PAID to attend university? In Sweden, everyone (including foreigners) can get a free education. This means the poorest of the poor can study, a boon as far as the Swedes are concerned.
Sun Worshipping
Because the winters in Sweden tend to be chilly and, in some places, almost perpetually dark, as soon as the snow melts, people jump into their bathing attire and sunbathe. Surprisingly, in a land known for blondes and creamy complexions, a tan is still considered a “healthier” look.
Cheese Mania
The Swedes adore their cheeses, and most supermarkets give a ton of space to a variety of types. In fact, a traditional Swedish breakfast consists of bread and cheese, much different from the American cereal or hotcakes morning chow.
Northern Sun Round-the-Clock
Finally, if you visit during the middle of summer and your trip takes you to the northernmost points of Sweden, you’ll find that the sun literally never sets. With so much daylight, you may have to force yourself into bed so you can enjoy sightseeing the next beautiful day. |
